BurnAware Free is a simple yet powerful software tool that allows you to burn many kinds of discs, such as data discs, Blu-ray discs, audio CDs, MP3 CDs, video DVDs and many more.

Besides, the program also performs other complementary tasks, like creating ISO images from existing discs and erasing re-writable discs, among others.

The program's main window is a sort of main menu, which offers shortcuts to all the functions available organized in groups. Whenever you click on any of those icons, the program runs the corresponding function in a separate window. BurnAware Free supports burning on many media types, such as CD-R, CD-RW, DVD±R, DVD±RW, BD-R, and BD-RE. Besides, this tool can fully create and manage multisession data discs. Most of its disc burning utilities include a tree navigator (for easy file location and selection) and a visual indicator of the remaining space on your blank disc.

But this program also offers you more advanced possibilities. For example, you can use it to verify a disc readability, to display disc information, to create bootable discs, and to back up a disc into an ISO image and vice versa. You can also use this program to create a "custom" disc, which allows you to select a file system type among ISO 9660, UDF, bridge (ISO 9660 + UDF), and DVD-Video. As stated before, the program includes a video DVD burning module, though it doesn't seem to include any video encoding capabilities. In other words, it requires a prepared DVD folder (a VIDEO_TS folder) to build the DVD. As for the re-writable disc eraser, it provides you with both a quick and a complete erasing methods.
